Ancient Ruins of Arizona - Presented by Bill Harrison
Over the past 7,000 years, more than a dozen ancient cultures lived in the area we now call Arizona. These nomads, traders, farmers, and warriors left behind thousands of unique settlements filled with houses, ball courts, ceremonial shrines, and mystery, lots of mystery! Today, we can examine their lives and dwellings at some of the best-preserved ruins in the world.
Travel photographer Roger Naylor will share highlights from his latest book Arizona’s Scenic Roads and Hikes. His book covers Arizona's best, from the deserts to the mountains, from the Grand Canyon to Sedona, from Native American villages to Route 66. The Leisure World Photography Club will exhibit photographs that support this theme. The exhibit will be available at 5 p.m. with the lecture at 6 p.m.
Bill Harrison will present “Goldfield, Boom to Bust”. The Photography Club will exhibit pictures of the ghost town, along with pictures of cowboys and the desert.
