Showing images in the Theater via Fast Stone

Download: https://www.faststone.org/FSViewerDetail.htm

FastStone Image Viewer, a free Windows program, presents images with a black surround and will accept most file formats. But the Theater's projector resolution is 1024 pixels wide by 768 pixels high. Any image you bring in larger than that will be downsized to that for display. If you submit files smaller than 1024x768, they will be presented as smaller than the full screen.

FastStone has a lot of capabilities beyond just browsing and viewing images. It can sort by name, by file type, by date, or by randomly dragging images around on the screen. However, they are sorted, images can then be renamed to define an order sequence. One shortcoming is that it only has one level of flagging the images. Only yes/no, or other binary criterion can be used for flagging.

Once your image files are in your computer, it is a simple task to plug in a thumb drive and drag the files over, just like transferring them to any other disk. To share your photos at the weekly meeting:

 1.      Create a new folder on your thumb drive.

2.      Give the folder a descriptive title including the subject and your name (e.g. Topic - John Doe).

3.      Drag each of your images to your thumb drive as you find them and finish preparing them.

4.      FastStone typically presents images from a folder in alphanumeric order.

5.      To control the order sequence of your images, change each name to begin with a sequence number (e.g. 01 Topic JD, 02 Topic JD, 03 Topic JD, 04 Topic JD, 05 Topic JD, 06 Topic JD, 07 Topic JD, 08 Topic JD.

6.      There is an eight-image limit unless otherwise announced.
